Jason Wu and Custo Barcelona Autumn/Winter 2012

This is one of my favourite collections from New York fashion week so far. Wu has combined the archetypes of Chinese interpretation with elegant aggression and produced really sexy, sophisticated looks in a colour pallet of black, grey, reds and bronze. Models strutted down the catwalk in blouses and belted jackets with black leather studded gloves and garments embroidered with traditional Chinese detailing.

In contrast, I'm always drawn to designers who produce looks which are playful and stand-out. Custo Barcelona's great at doing that, which is why I'm in love with this latest collection. There is a fair bit of mixing up of patterns and boldness of colour (for example, the teal green with the darkness of the black which I personally think looks really effective)
Above are my favourites from the collection. The dungarees are seriously cute and I love how with some of the outfits they are toned down with more subtle colours and glamorous metallics, then combined with a leather jacket and shades to produce an effortlessly cool rock 'n' roll look (bottom right)
