MBFW Madrid: María Escoté

Cutsie meets rock 'n' roll edginess- now that's my kind of combo.  It's pleasing when designers produce a whole collection that you can see fitting perfectly into your day-to-day life. (Isabel Marant and Carven are great at doing this, as I could happily live in just their clothes) For spring summer 2013, María Escoté has supplied us with leopards, dog bones, outraged monkeys, and sharp teeth-like patterns exploding with casual energy, all of which can each be worn for various occasions.
Wear the vests with denim shorts for an effortlessly cool laid back look, throwing on a zigzagged long sleeved top or shimmering sweater if you start to feel a bit nippy. The biker jackets are made for city outfits, paired with leather trousers or (due the animal references and friendly flowers) a pretty white dress. Summer evenings eating meals by the sea would be ideal for the vivid orange maxi skirt, and do you want to go partying but don't want to spend time looking glamorous yet still seem like you've made an attractive effort? the glossy pastel coloured skirts and two outfits shown below would most certainly be my choice of night time wear.

MBFW Madrid: Francis Montesinos

Ah the excitement of fashion week. For me, it is far from exciting as I become firmly fixed to my laptop, perusing through all the latest shows, pretending I am sat in the front row amongst all the action. But that moment when you discover a collection that stands out for its perfection or artistic creativity is exciting.

Francis Montesinos has entitled this summertime spectacle 'Spanish Garden', a name which is a complete representation of what is included. My first impression was this is a garden party. A garden party I want to be a part of. The merging of yellows and blues form the sky and the idyllic weather; the floral embellishments, the 3D flowers, the head-wear blossoming with colour create the picturesque setting- as do the moss covered handbags, making it all the more real; the dresses and skirts, which can be found in presentable white lace, flow playfully, producing the guests in their ideal uniform for looking the part at the social gathering. Like every event in life, it has to come to an end and the dark elegant black is the evening that follows, the twinkling illustrating the starry sky. And the silk trousers? the moon, of course, shining in the clearness above.
